Andhra Pradesh Grameena Bank Created via Four RRB Mergers

Bank News – On April 9, 2025, four Andhra Pradesh-based Regional Rural Banks—Chaitanya Godavari Grameena Bank, Andhra Pragathi Grameena Bank, Saptagiri Grameena Bank, and Andhra Pradesh Grameena Vikas Bank—merged to form Andhra Pradesh Grameena Bank, headquartered in Amaravati. 

Sponsored by Union Bank of India, the consolidation, aims to enhance financial inclusion, improve credit delivery, and streamline operations across rural Andhra Pradesh.

The new entity will leverage a combined deposit base of over ₹30,000 crore to support agriculture, micro-enterprises, and women’s self-help groups. 

The merger, approved under RBI’s framework, reflects Governor Sanjay Malhotra’s focus on strengthening RRBs to drive rural economic growth, positioning the bank as a key player in the state’s financial landscape.
